3 Characters To Bring Back in New Walking Dead Show
With Walking Dead spin-offs keeping television’s TWD canon alive, there is still hope for old fan favorite character revivals. So, will they bring back a character in the new Walking Dead show?
3. Bring Back Eugene and Abraham
Yeah, yeah. This is called “3 characters,” but I’m throwing Eugene and Abraham together into one. But these fellas have a shared history! In their own little way, they are inextricable.
We already have an episode that is half Eugene, half Abraham, and ends where they meet in the regular show. But I think it would be interesting to go back even further.
Look, I get it: it’s easy to hate on Eugene. Sure, he’s smart, loveable, and innocent. But he’s also a turncoat, and turncoats are hard to forgive. He’s a coward, when all his friends are brave and uncompromising. But even so, it’s a tough world out there, and everyone’s just doing what they have to to survive.
True, Eugene has already played a large role in the series. But I’d be interested to learn more about his past. What was Eugene doing before the walker outbreak? What was his life like?
Of course, we already have lots of clues. But I’d like to really see what that looked like.
Same with Abraham.
We already know a bit about his past from season 5. But what about an entire episode dedicated to Abraham’s life before the walker outbreak? His death at the hands of Negan was so sudden that it left me wanting more.
If Walking Dead brings back a character, the writers should definitely consider Eugene and Abraham.
2. Bring Back Merle!
Michael Rooker is one of my favorite actors. I loved him as Merle in The Walking Dead, and again as Yondu from Guardians of the Galaxy. I also loved him in Mallrats.
It’s a shame they killed off Merle character in season 3 of The Walking Dead. I mean, sure, Merle was a total dick, and also totally racist (remember how he treated T-Dog in season 1?). But I always enjoy seeing Michael Rooker’s acting talent. The guy is seriously fun to watch.
Besides, when it comes to TWD storyline, there still remains a lot to explore. After all, Merle was Daryl’s big brother.
What was it like for the Dixon boys, growing up? I would absolutely tune in for an episode with lots of flashbacks with the brothers. And while they’re at it, maybe they could include some of Merle’s history between seasons 1 and 3, too? He totally disappeared during that time. If The Walking Dead brings back Merle, there is still a lot of unexplored territory.
1. The Walking Dead: Bring Black Glenn
This one’s a no-brainer. The Walking Dead bringing back Glenn would be a dream come true for long-time fans of the TWD TV show. Glenn has always been a fan favorite. Long-retired TWD fans would surely come back for a Glenn episode.
Personally, I think the best approach to tackle a Glenn episode is to show everything that happened to him from the initial walker outbreak to when he first meets Rick Grimes. Season 1 is a fan favorite. Those are the episodes most of us have seen. Plus, they were arguably the most exciting.
Doing a Glenn episode about the earliest days of the outbreak would be a great way to bring back fans who got sick of The Walking Dead after the first 62 billion episodes.
