The Maid 2020

3 New Thai Horror Movies on Netflix

Here are 3 Thai Horror Movies on Netflix you’ll enjoy.

Thai horror movies have a lot of drama. I think that’s what makes them unique. And these three films are no exceptions:

Thai Horror Movie on Netflix #1: The Whole Truth (2021)

The Whole Truth 2021

The Whole Truth is a grim tale about a brother and sister who move into their grandparents’ house, where everything is not quite as it seems. This dramatic, horrifying story reveals lots of deep family secrets that go back for generations.

There’s a lot to like here in terms of production. For one thing, Thai star Sutatta Udomsilp was phenomenal in this one. What’s more, the special effects were decent by Thai Horror Movie standards (i.e., low budget). Even better, the soundtrack was phenomenal. 10/10 for SURE.

Thai Horror Movie #2: Inhuman Kiss (2019)

When it comes to the most original horror movies, Inhuman Kiss takes the cake. That’s because it’s unique, haunting, and creepy. Again, as with The Whole Truth, the soundtrack here is phenomenal. Maybe there’s something here about Thai horror movies. Is this a pattern?

Anyway, also, it’s a history piece, which lends Inhuman Kiss a unique flavor, and best of all, it’s based on a Thai folk monster, so you’ll even get a little cultural education mixed into the pot.

What is Inhuman Kiss About?

Inhuman Kiss is about a Krasue, a mythical monster that kills things in the middle of the night when no one is looking. In the film, a Krasue has been terrorizing the village when a band of armed Krasue hunters come to fight it.

Before you think it’s ridiculous that there’s just a band of armed Krasue hunters roaming the countryside, this movie takes place in World War 2 times. People roamed the countryside with guns, okay?

By the way, Thailand played an interesting role in World War 2. Originally, it didn’t side with the axis powers, but then the Japanese threatened to take them over. So, the Thai flipped.

If you’re looking at Netflix for a unique take on the Thai Horror genre, I think you’ll enjoy the film.

Netflix Thai Horror #3: The Maid (2020)

If you think you’d like your Thai horror to have a classic American Psycho-styled thriller throwback vibe, you should definitely check this one out.

The Maid was one of my favorite horror movies of 2020.

Sure, you could almost call it a thriller rather than a horror movie, but I like to think of it as a little bit of both. Of the three Thai horror movies on this list, The Maid probably had the worst budget. Even so, I think you really get a bang for your buck here.

That’s because the story was loaded with character reveals and drama. In other words, sure, The Maid was a horror movie, but it was also so much more. It was a story about a family’s darkest secrets.
